The Race by Clive Cussler.
I chose the poem "Suspicious Minds" by Kalina. The poem relates to the initial conflict of the story The Race. The beginning conflict is of a young aviatrix Josephine Josephs, being accused of cheating by her sly husband Harry Frost. When Josephine decides to race in Preston Whiteways "great Atlantic-to-Pacific cross country air race", many agents are assigned to keep her safe. One of the top agents, Isaac Bell, goes to the extent of getting Josephine a divorce paper. The thought of freedom gets to her, she knew her and frost "(Could not) go on together" and the divorce papers gave her a chance of escape from her husband.
From the help of the agents, Josephine is kept safe from numerous attacks from her murderous husband, although Josephine might not be so innocent either. Being accused of cheating with the maker of the planes that supplied Harry and Josephine, making it seem as though Harry's suspicions are right, and he is not the bad guy.
The plot carry's strong with Harry's suspicion, leaning more and more towards Josephine being guiltier than anyone thought. Harry has numerous run ins with Isaac, and the agent starts to piece the story together, getting closer to believe in Harry's claims.
